Corrupted to the Core - I

I was sucked up by the work today. Turned out to be one more night out. While relaxing from the work thought of blogging about an interesting incident.
Me and my friend went to hotel and returning to home around 11:00 pm. We were stopped by traffic police near a check post. Usual questions about license, RC etc., etc., I had license and RC. I showed him both. My bike has a temporary registration number. I showed him the copy of purchase document. He thought for a second. Then said 'Sir, give some money'. We thought for a second and asked him why. He kept on repeating this. Unfortunately we didnt have any money. Together we had 7 rupees only. we told him that we dont have any money. We just have some coins (5+1+1). We even showed our purse. He got that seven rupees then only he let us go.
I am not writing this to make fun of that person or something like that. But the point is we are so used to corruption that we don't even bother to refuse such simple things (yep, i am also in that shameless list). We take curruption for granted. Heard from one of my friend that 'In a government project if 20% of the allocated money is utilized properly then it is supposed to be a succesfull project'. Meaning remainig 80% goes to someone (or someones) even in the successful project. Think of the not so successful ones :(. It is not just the upper layer who gets it. It starts from the top and all the way down to last person. When we are in the receiving side we just don't think about the giving side.
To be continued ...
